Probably. [And as funny as that is, it's actually kind of a really fitting metaphor for what he feels like his life would be like if she wasn't around, which is kind of sad, but also kind of nice. Admittedly, he's been away for a long time, but it's not like he hadn't thought about her, or about what she would have done or said, and he'd always known she'd be there when he got home, even if there's a part of him that's still not entirely certain what to do with the promise her father had asked him to agree to.

Strangely, that's easier to kind of nudge aside, here. Keep it on the back burner to deal with when they get home, where Captain Stacy's alive and can be included in the discussion (... or argument, probably argument), because right now? There's no leaving Gwen out of this. Nothing Peter can do will keep her entirely out of harm's way here, and it scares him a little (a lot, it scares him a lot), but sticking by her might at least keep some of the bad stuff away.

Of course, it helps that sticking by her helps him, too, so his arms tighten a little around her when she snuggles closer, and he presses a kiss into her hair.]

Not yet. Just don't take suggestions from Chris, he's like, literally the worst at codenames, which is kind of pathetic because he loves superheroes more than pretty much anything.
