[Video, Backdated to Day One of the Flood] [The feed clicks on and has the general fumble that comes along with someone who doesn't really know what they're doing with the device. Eventually, after everyone gets a good couple seconds of the flood of Peter's room, the camera rights itself and a young face peers into the lens. He's about five, and he's got Peter's glasses on, even though they obviously don't really fit him and look both oversized and comically cockeyed on his face. He squints at the device, flips it back over, and from the sound of it, is now taking a screwdriver to the back of it to try and figure out how it works. Eventually, the feed cuts. Maybe ten minutes later, it clicks back on and Peter squints curiously at the camera.] How does this work? [And as an afterthought, he figures he might as well ask:] When are we gonna go home? [Open Spam] [Peter is small for his age and quiet, so for the most part, he's not one of the more noticeable kids on board. He wanders, and peeks at things, and follows certain people around if they seem cool or like they don't mind him tagging along, but for the most part, he keeps to himself and tries to keep out of trouble. His aunt and uncle have been saying he doesn't talk enough these days, but considering he's in a strange place with a bunch of strangers, he figures that's not really a bad thing. ... Except when he's hungry, and isn't quite sure where the dining hall is. Then he's sort of nervously looking around for someone to ask about where he can get a sandwich or something, because he really doesn't want to be a pest or anything but. He's hungry. :c]

[And now the shoe's on the other foot; Chris is heading back to his hall, arms loaded with ill-gotten gains from Rorschach's key, most of his haul consisting of juiceboxes for the little kids running around. He's so loaded up that he doesn't see Peter until he's nearly underfoot and Chris is stumbling over him]

[Peter quickly scrambles out of the way, staring at him almost nervously and sort of trying to make himself smaller without really realizing he's doing it.] Sorry!

[Hey, wait...]

You said a bad word.

[With half the juiceboxes now on the floor, Chris bends to scoop them up, swearing]

Yeah, fuck, I know. I say a lot of bad words, fucking...deal with it...

Wait.

Which one are you?

Um... [It takes him a little while to answer, because he has to weigh the pros and cons of talking to this particular stranger. He knows he's not supposed to talk to strangers, but it's not like he's seen his aunt or uncle around, so...] Peter?

[He doesn't notice his shadow right away, but it's impossible to miss it after long. He's been wandering around, that can only keep up so long with someone following him. So James gets to the stairs and trots up a couple before turning around.]

What? What do you want?

{Chris finally turns to get a good look at the boy he tripped over, frowning at his features]

Oh. Well, fuck.

You know me? [He sounds pretty confused, because he's pretty sure he's never seen you before.]

[Peter can't exactly explain why he's been following the older boy around, so he just looks startled and confused and shy more than anything else when he's addressed so straight forwardly. He finally shrugs, watching him with interest.]

Where are you going?

[James just shrugs.] Around. Why are you following me?

You by yourself, or what? Did Ivy or Jesse grab you yet?

Red's making her own way down the hallway, peering at everything. Though she's only thirteen, now, her pet snake remains the same size as it's always been - Twice as large as she is, and seemingly ready to protect her.

It's Ophion who notices the small Peter, hissing faintly, and drawing Red's attention. "Hello."

[Snow is trying her best to keep track of who's a child, who's not, where everyone is, ages, and it's frankly a little exhausting. She's on her way back to her room for a little recuperation when she spots Peter though she doesn't recognize him.]

Hello, are you lost?

No one grabbed me. I'm okay. Do you know Uncle Ben?

[He kind of doubts that he would, but. There's no harm in asking, right?]

[He shrugs nonchalantly, still peering up at him.] I'm supposed to help you.

[Again, he's not really sure why he knows that's true, but he feels like it is. And while he's definitely not Uncle Ben or Aunt May, he feels kind of okay, following him around. Not that he's scared of the other people or anything, but he feels safer with James. He doesn't really think to question why.]

Peter's small for his age, and giant snakes are definitely things that are way cooler when they're behind glass and not hissing at him. He shrinks away, staring at her and the snake warily.

"Hi."

[theitsybitsyspider]

No. [She's pretty, and Peter abruptly feels a little shy, smiling cautiously at her.] I'm okay.

[Actually, though:]

I'm kinda hungry?

[mistconduct]

[Of course Chris knows Uncle Ben. But he plays dumb, and replies,]

What, the rice?

[theitsybitsyspider]

No, [And that actually gets Peter to adopt a tone and expression that suggests he's amused to know more than someone who's older than him.] My uncle. He's gonna worry. So's my aunt.

[And he doesn't want to make them worry about him. They've been worrying about him a lot lately, ever since his parents left. He knows why they do, but he wishes he didn't bother them so much.]

[mistconduct]

Just relax. You're going to see them soon, man. This is like a field trip.

[theitsybitsyspider]

[His brow furrows a little. He's not particularly worried, but he still feels like they will.]

Do they know?

[breathoflight]

[Snow tilts her head a little.]

Do you know where the dining hall is?

[mistconduct]

They're aware.

[Well that earns a surprised laugh and an incredulous little look.] Help me? Who are you, kid?

[He continues to regard Chris skeptically, because he's not sure why they wouldn't have told him that this was going to happen if they knew about it in advance. Unless they didn't, which was kind of scary, too.]

You're sure?
