[Spam for the Infirmary]
[Being shot in the thigh is a strangely familiar experience for Peter Parker. Being poisoned with wolfsbane and spending a while hallucinating and incredibly nauseous is less so, but thanks to his enhanced metabolism, he winds up more or less okay symptom free in about an hour or two. (He makes a mental note to try and do some more research into how well he actually resists poisons and stuff like that.)
So for the first day after our latest vacation to Mirror Barge, Peter can be found napping in a hospital bed, playing Angry Birds on his phone, or inquiring after his friends and the general state of the ship. His right arm is heavily bandaged, and he's careful to keep weight off his leg, but otherwise, he actually seems kind of cheerful, if a little sedated.
A day or so later, and he'll be trying to hobble out on crutches if no one stops him.]

I'm almost at the infirmary, I'll see you soon.
[ and see him soon she does, once she gets to the infirmary and only pauses long enough to find Peter in his bed there. she doesn't rush over, but she doesn't exactly waste any time getting to his bedside and pulling the chair as close as she can to it before sitting down, reaching for his hand ]
Tell me you're okay. That you're actually, really okay. [ she brings his hand up just so she can kiss his fingers before letting it rest on the bed again ] You're crazy, you know that?
no subject
'm fine. It turns out I heal pretty fast? Spiders can do that. [Which she probably already knows, considering where and who she'd worked for.
His voice sounds a little slurred - it's the painkillers making him a little drowsy, even if his system seems to be metabolizing them out of his system a little faster than they should be - but he's probably a lot more chipper than someone should be after being shot.
The smile droops a little when he continues, guilt seeping through much more visibly.]
Sorry. Didn't really have time for a plan B.
no subject
[ she gives him a look, but then she's grinning too, reaching up to brush his hair back off his forehead. the idea of him literally stepping in the way of danger makes her feel a little scrambled, panicked, but he's okay. the healing thing isn't too hard to believe, not with what she's learned while researching cross-species genetics. it's only a minor comfort, but paired with having him right here, smiling like a dope, it's enough. ]
You don't have to apologize. You did the right thing. The crazy thing, but the right thing. [ another variation of "stupid, but great". one day she'l have a plaque made up for him to hang over his door with that slogan ] If anything, I should be sorry. If I was ..myself, I actually could have been there, I would have been able to help.
no subject
[He leans into the touch a little, still keeping up the small smile despite the look, and it only gets bigger when she continues. He would totally accept that plaque and hang it somewhere with pride.
But man, now he's really glad she was affected, that she was too distracted with other stuff to want to jump in and help him. Things had been crazy enough, and he has no idea how he'd have reacted if she got hurt, or if - god forbid - she'd been killed by one of the other wolves, or by Scott himself, but he knows it wouldn't have been pretty.
Not pretty at all.]
It's okay. I'm glad you're okay. [He squeezes her hand again and then smiles a little slyly.] Come here?
no subject
Come where? I'm right here, Peter. I'm not going anywhere.
no subject
He might want to cuddle. Or at least sit with each other so it feels less like you're sitting at his hospital bed worrying.
Please ignore that that's sort of exactly what they're doing.]
Look, I'll scoot over. [Which takes less effort than it probably should, so long as he keeps his leg perfectly straight and doesn't move it too much. The bed's not exactly super wide, but they can probably both fit comfortably.]
no subject
[ worry, worry, worry. Peter moved and that's just horrifying right now, it's unacceptable. she'd wrap him up from head to two in bubble wrap right now if she had the resources. or, you know, that much bubble wrap. but he moves and he doesn't howl in pain so maybe it's okay, he can scoot over so she can- what, get on the bed, too? he really thinks that's okay to do here?
well, actually, maybe-
-- okay, no, it's not, it's totally inappropriate and she's very aware of that. but that doesn't mean she's against it.
so after a second she's standing up, just to turn and take a seat on the bed, eventually moving to lay down next to him, on her side. she doesn't cozy too close, but her chin's on his shoulder, hand seeking out his while the other rests on his chest ]
I'm blaming you, if we get in trouble. This was your idea.
[ but she leans in to give him a kiss on the cheek, so obviously she doesn't think it's a terrible idea ]
no subject
The doctors are all probably a little too preoccupied to care much about the dumbass superhero as long as he doesn't do anything to tear his stitches, anyway.] I know all about first aid now, be impressed.
[He kisses her forehead, and then just leans his cheek against the top of her head. Peter's quiet for a moment or two, eyes drooping shut as he just... appreciates this. It's hard, to want her to be here and worry a lot about what other crazy bullshit she's going to have to go through while they're here, but right now? He's more glad she's here than worried. It's nice.
But then he realizes enhanced metabolism or not, he's still a little too doped up to just sit in silence if he actually wants to stay awake, and he definitely does.]
I'm sorry you had to be here for that. Things aren't... usually that weird? Or horrible.
[Hey, wait a minute.]
... You're not still a werewolf, are you?
no subject
[ she pauses with that next question, about to say he doesn't have to apologize since it's out of his control, but then she's trying to hide a smile. she knows perfectly well she's not a werewolf anymore, but- ]
I'm not sure... But on a totally unrelated note, could you give me a scratch behind the ears? I kind of love that lately. [ ...yeah she's bad at making jokes, because her smile is even there in her tone, even still once she adds on a quiet ] --awooooo.
no subject
[Enjoy that rare moment of honesty, considering usually he seems to go through life with a paper bag over his head when it comes to matters of personal safety and stuff. Sigh, Peter.
Well, hey, you're lucky your boyfriend has a sense of humor, then, because he's totally chuckling and reaching over to do just that.]
How's that? Fair warning, I think Arya called Wolf-Girl if you're looking for codename ideas.
no subject
[ which... is a joke? yeah, that's a joke. since he's perfectly capable, but instead of just saying that, she'll pretend he really could get stuck up in a tree, spider-abilities and all. that's how lost he would be without her, right. but then he's scratching her behind the ear and ah, it's not quite like when he plays with her hair, but it's close enough. so she shuts her eyes, snuggles up a little closer ( all while being hyper aware of his bandages and bruises ), like the happiest little thing ]
I don't think I need a nickname, do I? I mean, Scott doesn't have a nickname, does he?
no subject
Strangely, that's easier to kind of nudge aside, here. Keep it on the back burner to deal with when they get home, where Captain Stacy's alive and can be included in the discussion (... or argument, probably argument), because right now? There's no leaving Gwen out of this. Nothing Peter can do will keep her entirely out of harm's way here, and it scares him a little (a lot, it scares him a lot), but sticking by her might at least keep some of the bad stuff away.
Of course, it helps that sticking by her helps him, too, so his arms tighten a little around her when she snuggles closer, and he presses a kiss into her hair.]
Not yet. Just don't take suggestions from Chris, he's like, literally the worst at codenames, which is kind of pathetic because he loves superheroes more than pretty much anything.
no subject
[ she sighs, starting to absently draw little patterns with her finger in a small spot on his chest, hiding her face against his shoulder ]
I hope we never have to go through that again. I was- awful, in a lot of ways. And I still sort of feel awful, for some reason. Like that part of me is sitting in the back of my head waiting to come out again.
no subject
But then she says that, and he's immediately distracted, because well... yeah. That's what sucks about that place - it's not that hard to see similarities, to see ways things might have gone differently if you'd just. Chosen to do something else, or given up or given in or whatever, and it sucks.
He rubs her arm, tries to blink past the fog from the painkillers so he's actually saying something coherent and reassuring here.]
Yeah. It sucks. [Understatement of the year, Parker. Good job.] Stuff's not usually that bad here, but man, I don't know. That's so not you.
no subject
[ she can kind of tell he's cruising on meds, she knew since she got here and saw that big smile on his face. so while part of her wants to keep talking about this, dig into the how and the why, she can wait. so instead! ]
Hey, so I've been thinking, do you know what the rooming policy is here? Can we change rooms even after we've picked one out? Because I could sure use a friendly neighborhood- neighbor. If you would be up for that.
[ not moving in together! just. you know. neighbors. ]
no subject
It's nice in general to have her here even though man, it still sucks that she has to be here for all the bad stuff, too. He wonders how James made it work when Vesper was here, and tries to remember to ask him about it next time he sees him.]
I'd be up for that. I think you just ask the Admiral. He totally shouldn't say no.
[Or maybe he will, who knows with that guy.] But yeah, if you want a friendly neighborhood neighbor, we could totally work something out.
no subject
[ it was cool. it was super cool. cool enough to make her turn her face against his shoulder again so she can kiss him there again. she's not sure why she's being so affectionate, maybe it's because of how messed up everything got, how she's still worried about the fact that he was shot, even though he's right here in her arms, totally healing up just fine. it's still scary. it's enough to make her want to smother him with caringcaringcaring and lovelovelove. which is why she eventually says- ]
You should probably get some sleep. Trying to fight against pain meds or whatever else they've given you might end up making you feel a little nauseous. And I'd rather keep snuggling you than holding a bucket for you to puke in, if it's all the same. [ she huffs a laugh through her nose, rubbing her cheek against his shoulder ] I'll even nap with you, so I'm right here when you wake up.
no subject
[Woah wait, too many words there, Peter. His thoughts suddenly feel a little like they're melting or something, getting tangled up in each other, and he pauses for a moment to make a face.]
... I guess I do feel kinda nauseous.
[But maybe a little sleepy, too, so it's not hard to let his eyelids droop, or to let him relax into her a little more than he already was. You might be getting nuzzled a little.]
You promise?
no subject
I promise.
no subject
He smiles at the kiss - it's more like his mouth twitches up a little, but it's definitely there - and winds up blurting out the first thought that comes to mind, so enjoy that.]
Love you. [Which is... maybe the first time he's actually said it out loud? Did he mean to say it out loud? Who knows, maybe it's weird for her to hear because they haven't been together for that long, and she doesn't have the year plus on the Barge he's had to miss her and wish he could talk to her, but he does. Love her.]
no subject
all smiles, but her eyes are searching his, like she has to figure out if he's all there, if he realized what he said or- maybe she misheard him. something. she has to make sure. ]
Did you just say you love me, Peter Parker? Do you really mean it?
no subject
Uh, yeah I do. [He rubs her arm gently (it's maybe going to turn into more petting the sleepier he gets) and just keeps smiling because come on, what kind of a question is that?] You're amazing, you know?
