Because we sort of just had the one back home, and it kind of seems like there's about fifty of them on the Barge alone.

And if you don't have superheroes, then what about people with superhuman abilities? Or, I don't know, what's normal on your home planet, if you're not from Earth?

The only superhuman we had on my planet in my time - uh, Earth, 1985 - was called Dr. Manhattan. Otherwise, supereroes were just... comic books, really.

There were some costumed vigilantes running around New York for a while, but they got outlawed in 1977 by Nixon.

I'm from an Earth variant with mutants on it. Also neogens, cyborgs, the odd alien and a ton of Badass Normals. They're common enough that we've gotten forcibly outed.

Some people in my world are born with magic. It's not...common, but everyone knows of it. Some of those people can speak to one another with their minds alone. A very small number have visions of the future.
